Step 1: Filtration

The internal High Grade Filter removes chlorine, unpleasant taste and odor, and reduces sediments of up to 5 micrometers to produce Clean Water.

Step 2: Electrolysis

The filtered water moves through your K8's eight electrode plates and it's membranes, separating the water in to acidic and alkaline parts. It is split into OH- (hydroxid ions) and H+ (hydrogen ions).

The hydrogen ions react with electrons given by the cathode (– charged electrode), forming H2, molecular Hydrogen. Hydroxid ions remain, making the water more alkaline around the cathode. Conversely, close to the anode (+ charged electrode), hydroxid ions give electrons to the anode, eventually forming O2 (Oxygen). Hydrogen ions remain, making the water more acidic around the anode. The two kinds of water are separated by membranes and released through different hoses.

Kangen Water is NOT "alkaline" water. Kangen Water has a high pH for the following three drinking waters; 8.5pH, 9.0pH and 9.5pH. These are electrically charged and as a result of the ionization process which occurs the water is then enriched with high levels of molecular or "active" hydrogen which naturally raises the pH and alkalizes the water. Do not confuse Kangen Water with bottled water brands who add chemicals and minerals such as bi-carb soda to their water which makes "alkaline water" artificially thus leading to diluted stomach acids when ingested.
